Co-constructing a new approach to health with citizens and their environment

It aims to rethink environmental health by building it together with citizens, NGOs, scientists and communities. At the level of the Île-de-France region, it focuses primarily on exposure to environmental pollutants and seeks to develop new regulatory mechanisms that are more participatory, fairer and more effective.

Conscious will seek to improve understanding of environmental data, its collective appropriation and its translation into governance actions.

It plans to :

• conduct a critical analysis of current environmental health standards, carried out with civil society ;
• launch an experimental participatory approach to exposure to pollutants ;
• study the conditions for adopting new approaches to health protection ;
• work with non-academic partners to co-develop operational proposals for public authorities.

In particular, it will explore :

• how to improve health in the face of pollutants ;
• how populations perceive their health and risks ;
• how to support them effectively; how to promote collective awareness capable of bringing about profound change ;
• how to fully integrate ecosystems into the concept of environmental health.
